   You stand before the towering black walls that enclose the southern
section of Moldavia City.  A pillar of shimmering black stone stands to
either side of the road ahead, and two large guards stand poised at the
archway over the heavy iron doors.  Surely these defenses would stop any
invasion from the south.

Moldavia City South Gate
   From the southern fields and forests, you arrive at a fortified double
gate.  A set of two heavy iron doors are mounted on solid square columns of
glossy black stone, standing proudly to either side of the incoming road.
A black marble lion's head adorns the top of each column, snarling angrily
at would-be intruders.  The slightly arching black top of the doorframe
holds a series of waving green flags, the official color of the Moldaiva
city-state.  Extending far to the east and west from this imposing gate,
the black stone of the city wall divides the urban streets from the
southern wilderness.

    The bustling city spreads out before you to the north.  Here is the
place where just about anything (or anyone) can be bought and sold if 
the price is right.  Being a thouroughfare for many peoples from around
the land, the city guards and most of the townspeople are used to and 
tolerant of all races.  It would be wise, however, to try to stay out of
trouble, especially with the merchants, who are the real citizens under
the protection of the guard.

Dark silvery eyes adorn his perfect alabaster face. His long, platinum hair
flowing against it, occationally falling across his gleaming eyes, forcing him
to rake it back with his slender fingers. Garbed and adorned somewhat plainly,
though the quality of his clothing is obvious, as well. An undyed black-woolen
square cloak is fastened with a small silver brooch at his right shoulder. A
silvery glint coming from underneath the cloak catches your attention.
Fastened around his waist, a black belt. On his left, hangs a scabbard with
the hilt of his shortsword sticking out, the pommel of the weapon appears to be
shaped as a dragons' head. Ruby eyes from the dagger dazzle your gaze, as you
find yourself reeling back into reality, and the mysterious figure, vanished.

Before the Park Gates
    The cobblestones of the path leading away from the city continue
southward underneath an iron double gate, and into the park.  A square
stone column to either side supports the heavy gate, as well as providing
starting and ending points for the iron bars of the fence which surround 
the park.  Perched atop each column is a stone figure of a prideful male 
lion.

   This is a small path winding gently away from the great road.  Normally
a path like this in the middle of a city would seem very out of place,
however it leads south toward the main entrance of the Moldavia city park a
quiet, grassy area to get away from the hectic and overcrowded streets of
the city.

   This major intersection of the city was so named by a compromise between
the powerful and influential members of the Magic Guild and the political
leaders of Moldavian government.  The eerie, transparent substance of the
Songspells stops just at the edge of the great paved street.

   Just north of an intersection, you travel along the magical Road of the
Songspells.  For a split second the road directly underfoot glows a soft
blue and then returns to normal.  The road itself seems to carry a spirit
and an energy that is lacking in even many humans, and while travelling its
length, a subtle melody plays in your head.

   With every step taken, or every foot floated over, this road sings
another note of its song to you.  A cozy building with two floors lies to
the west, and a rectangular sign is set flat against the wall just beside
the entrance.  An interesting smell of maple syrup and oranges wafts out
through the open door.

Aunt May's Bed and Breakfast
   This cozy little inn is filled with the sweet smell of maple syrup and
orange juice.  Several polished wooden tables stand about the room, and a
row of wide booths line the southern wall.  All the chairs and booth seats
are covered in soft quilted cushions, and have high cushioned backs.  A bar
spans the length of the inn, and several wide stools sit in front of it.  
In the northwest corner, a carpeted wooden staircase leads to the rooms
upstairs.

   There is a small desk here, covered in jumbled stacks of paper.  Behind
the desk is a row of tiny brass hooks fixed to the wall, a few of which
have keys hanging from them.  From here a short hallway leads to the west,
with doors to the inn's cozy rooms on either side of the hall.  A subtle
smell of sweet flowers fills the room.
